dr_farrant1.jpgI wish I had known about chiropractic earlier…It made such a difference to my health and made such perfect sense - so much so I became a chiropractor myself!

I first discovered chiropractic when I was 17 years of age. I had lower back pain and went to a chiropractor on the recommendation of a good friend. During his initial examination he found a problem in my lower back but also in my neck. We traced the problem back to when I dived into shallow water when I was 8 years old and hurt my neck.

At the time my parents were thankful that I had not broken my neck or been paralyzed. Everything seemed OK and as a result I was not checked for any residual neck or spinal problems…however from about that point in my life I was continually unwell, picking up every cold, flu and infectious disease that was going around. I had tonsil and nasal operations in an attempt to stop the respiratory infections but they continued. I went to allergy specialists and altered my diet with no result. The neck subluxation that was discovered on my first chiropractic visit was literally cutting off vital nerve energy to my throat and upper respiratory system leaving that area weak and unable to cope. No wonder bacteria and viruses liked living there!

A course of adjustments improved my lower back pain but most importantly I stopped getting sick all the time. I was so inspired that I applied to chiropractic school and was accepted the following year. Now I help hundreds of people with similar problems.
Chiropractic is a gift that I can share with everyone regardless of their health status and I see my role as one of a healer but also a teacher of the knowledge we all need to attain better health.

I went to Melbourne to study chiropractic. After 2 years at UWA I spent another 5 years in Melbourne before graduating in 1993. I spent 2 years in Kalgoorlie before developing a very busy practice in Broome. After our 3rd child my wife and I moved to Kalamunda in the hills east of Perth and closer to our extended family. Over my time in practice I have studied and developed extra skills in the care of pregnant mothers and children and infants and have become a wellness educator. As a result our practice is very family orientated but attracts people who want something more than relief of pain.

Nervana is about liberation. The liberation of your nerves, your body, your mind, and ultimately your life. We honour and trust in your body’s innate wisdom and ability to heal itself naturally in awe- inspiring ways, given the right conditions. That’s where Chiropractic comes in.

Chiropractic is a powerful, natural method of health care. It assists your nervous system in restoring greater brain and nerve function to your body, by opening the pathways along your spine and reducing nerve stress. So that you can be the best you can be. That’s what we’re here for.

We’re here to empower you to a new level of health. By enlightening you about better health choices, you can experience the joy of a fully expressed life and the bliss of achieving your goals and aspirations, whatever they may be. That’s Nervanafarrant_family1.jpg.

I have been married since 1998 and have 4 children ranging from 3 to 12 years of age (Oliver, Sam, Lilly and Charlie). My family and their health is the most important thing to me and the principles we aspire to I teach my patients. As a family we aim to have fun and live life to the full. We love fishing, mountain bike riding and just hanging out together. I currently run a community orientated social cricket club at Pickering Brook and love to play golf.

I receive adjustments at least every 2 weeks. Many people wonder why people get adjusted regularly but after receiving chiropractic care for the last 20 years I know what "great" feels like and I don’t accept anything less. That is one of the beautiful things about chiropractic care….it allows people to regain an awareness of themselves and to realize when they are not at their best. So many people are living at a level of health far worse than they could be and just don’t realize it…they think that it is normal!! At Nervana it is our obligation and mission to lead people toward a better life by improving their health and lifestyle.

Enough about us! We are interested in you and would love to have the opportunity to help you and support you in reaching for better health for you and your family. Give us a call so we can discuss your specific health challenge and explore ways we can help.    (Top)

Dr. Jason Prior (Chiropractor)

“Life is a sequence of ordering our priorities.  To cure cancer may be high on the list but I have come to believe that even higher is the simple business of helping life to be better.” author unknown.

Helping others reach their full potential is my passion.  When I left school my goal was to find the cure for cancer.  I started my journey in nursing and particularly enjoyed working with people in palliative care and continued in this type of nursing to support myself through a medical science degree.  As I read the latest advances in science and medicine I realized that the cure for cancer wasn’t in fighting the body (treating it once the disease was present) but rather in supporting it’s natural abilities to self regulate and to be healthier and therefore preventing it from occurring in the first place.  This is what chiropractic is about, helping people reach their full potential for health, happiness and lifelong wellness.  I no longer needed to find the cure, I just had to help life to be better.dr.jason_prior.jpg

Learning had always been a struggle for me since my early days in school. I found that through regular chiropractic adjustment I was able to think clearer, had more energy than I could ever remember experiencing and it improved by creativity and ability to learn. Since then I have studied privately, attended courses in neurology and psychology and have worked with many children and adults with learning and behavioural difficulties. This includes those with ADHD, Autism, Asperger’s, and other difficulties.

Today I am focused on advancing the understanding of these conditions. I am actively engaged in research at Murdoch University where we are discovering the effects of movement and other forms of stimulation on brain function. In clinical practice I’m applying some of the latest information from neuroscience on how the brain works to treating people with learning, attention and behavioural difficulties. This is a rapidly evolving field with the hope of not just finding a cure but eventually preventing these problems.

I run regular seminars on health and maximizing children’s learning and development for client’s, their families and other people interested helping other’s reach their full potential.

If you would like to find out more just call us at Nervana Chiropractic Kalamunda. I would love the opportunity to speak with you.    (Top)

Dr. Hamish McLeod (Chiropractor)

Nervanahamish.jpgChiropractic care has been a regular part of my health care since I was a toddler. My father had suffered with back pain for years before he discovered the effectiveness of Chiropractic care not only for pain relief, but for optimal health and wellness for the whole family. The decision to become a Chiropractor seemed a natural choice.

I moved to Sydney to study at Macquarie University and graduated in 1999. After two years in private practice in Sydney I decided to pursue a long time dream of travelling and set off to Europe and the UK. While in the UK I met my beautiful wife Sally and ended up living in the north of England for six years. Three years ago we made the move back to Perth together with our three children.

Before becoming part of the team at Nervana Chiropractic I worked in several private practices and also spent time working as a Locum at many busy and successful practices throughout Perth. My goal is to offer optimal health through an optimally functioning nervous system and body.

Outside of Chiropractic I enjoy tennis, football (the round ball variety) and spending time with my family. (Top)

Dr. Candice Haynes (Chiropractor)

My experience with Chiropractic began when I was about six years old. In those early years my first memories of Chiropractic was sharing the half hour drive with my parents and three siblings to our Chiropractors office. We absolutely loved going, we would all get to draw pictures for the assistants at the front desk and we’d always make a mess in the play room. I remember fighting with my brother and sisters about who got to be adjusted first once we got called into the room. Chiropractic was about colouring in, stickers and the jelly beans we would get while my parents took care of the bill.

As I grew older my idea of what Chiropractic also grew and the benefits of the treatments I was receiving became more obvious to me. When I was 11 I started to suffer from severe migraines. My parents and I were unsure of what was happening or what was causing them and everyone we spoke to for help could only offer me medication. As the months went on we didn’t even consider Chiropractic as a possible treatment. One day, coincidentally, while we were at the Chiropractor, I started to get a migraine, our family chiropractor took a special interest and after taking a close look he adjusted me and almost instantly my migraine began to improve.n556151719_784644_4827.jpg
Ever since then I rarely suffer from migraines or headaches and I ensure that I stay regularly adjusted to keep it that way. At the time I didn’t understand why or how it helped my migraines, or how it helped my father manage his Ankylosing Spondylitis, but seeing the results and experiencing the impact Chiropractic had on my life and the life of my loved ones was more then enough for me!

My interest in Chiropractic then peaked after experiencing the amazing results as an 11 year old, so it was no surprise to my parents that at the age of 12 I decided and enthusiastically declared to them that I was going to become a Chiropractor. In high school I did my work experience at our chiropractor’s office, which reignited my passion. I couldn’t believe my ears when it was announced that a Chiropractic course was to be started in Western Australia at Murdoch University. It is very clear in my mind my first trip to Murdoch when I was 15 and I had a meeting with the Dean of the School, it was so exciting, but the only downfall was that I was still 3 years away from reaching my dream. Those years however flew by and once I started my Chiropractic education at Murdoch University I found that as my knowledge of my career increased, as did my passion and my desire to excel.

It’s funny because the main reasons my family began care were all pain based but 20 years later we still all get our regular adjustments because it keeps us all at the best we possibly can be. We very rarely get sick and we are all full of energy most of the time. After all these years I still find it truly amazing how different I feel after I have been adjusted and the pressure is taken off my nerves. I feel that one of the most important aspects of health is being in tune with your own body and knowing when it is not functioning at its optimum. I generally get adjusted fortnightly but when my body tells me I need more then I always ensure that I get adjusted until I feel that I am back on track. There are so many different daily stressors in people’s lives which make it so important to be absolutely in tune with your body.
I still remember very clearly a conversation with my Mum after a trip to the health food shop where we had just purchased some products to help us avoid the winter flu’s that were going around our schools and I said to my Mum “wow, these products can be quite expensive.” My Mum responded with “It seems like a lot now, but these are for all of us and how often do we visit the GP?” It was a very good point my Mum had made, we did rarely need to seek out any crisis care because we were keeping our bodies functioning at the most optimal levels which was keeping us all extremely healthy.

We are all born with an extraordinary health potential. Stresses in our everyday life interfere with the natural balance of our bodies creating a state of sub-optimal health which can eventually lead to a clinically diagnosable disease. Chiropractic is a natural method of health care which aims to maintain your health rather than chase it once it’s gone. By removing these stresses on the nervous system we allow your body to express the full range of innate intelligence that governs the optimal function of our bodies. The human body is infinite in its potential; imagine what you could achieve without any barriers to hold you back. We are here to help you gain control of your health. By making better health choices in your daily life you can build the foundation to a future filled with untold potential and a better quality of life.
My family first went to the Chiropractor on the recommendation of my Uncle. Who could have thought such a simple suggestion would have such a profound impact on my life and the lives of the people around me?

Dr. Craig Foote (Chiropractor)

Craig and Cath.jpgI first saw a chiropractor when I was about 8. I had been playing cricket and injured my back bowling. When seeing the chiropractor I noticed the asthma that I had been on medication for stopped as well as the back pain.

I really knew I wanted to be a chiropractor when I was about 11. My mother had a car accident and Dad loaded my sister and I into his work car and drove all of us 100 kms to see the chiropractor. I distinctively remembered Dad carrying Mum into the practice and then only a little while later Mum walking out unaided (still in pain but walking no less!) I remember wanting to know how did that happen so quickly.

I finished school, got into RMIT and studied Chiropractic for 5 years and now find myself approaching 12 years in practice.  I love what I do and love seeing people realise that the key to their health is already within them- just trapped.

All this time I still can not get over what people put up with as being...”normal aches and pains.”  Or “part of the aging process” and then to see the realisation that they could have done something about it often years prior.

I find myself lucky enough to work alongside my wife of over 10 years- Cath, where you'll find her helping patients at the front desk or organising our next patient appreciation day, or even fundraising for the Australian Spinal Research Foundation. Needless to say she keeps me in check! We have 3 fantastic and healthy children, Patrick, Imogen and Mitchell who certainly keep us grounded and entertained. Our youngest "Mitchell" loves me being "the Wiggles chiropractor" although my oldest Patrick wishes I adjusted some movie stars.

The biggest buzz I get is when I speak to a group of people interested in learning more about how to be as healthy as they possibly can. To see a light come on as they realise they have already got what they need is fantastic. I'm lucky enough to have been able to speak to many groups over the years, the general public, colleagues, students, and the medical profession.

Dr. Foote works primarily at the Yokine practice but also does one shift a week at Nervana Warwick.  Call now to book an apoointment at Nervana Chiropractic Yokine or Warwick.

I wish I had known then what I know now! I suffered far too long with problems I didn’t have an answer for, until I saw a chiropractor. As a child I struggled with a speech impediment, and had learning difficulties through primary school. In addition to the stigma of being labeled slow, I suffered terrible leg pains, often during the middle of the night, sending me crying for my parents. It wasn’t until I hurt my shoulder that I finally saw a chiropractor. The chiropractor found that my shoulder pain was actually coming from my back, and that I had quite a severe scoliosis. The scoliosis was putting enormous pressure on my nervous system, so my body wasn’t able to function properly. With treatment, the pressure was taken off the nerves, allowing my brain to communicate with my body correctly. Not only did my shoulder pain improve, but my performance at school accelerated and my terrible leg pains stopped, saving my parents many sleepless nights.

At school, the labels changed from slow to bright, and I felt like I was the “Me” I knew I could be.  I decided then and there, at age 14, that I was going to be a chiropractor.   Over the next 12 years, I set out to achieve this dream. The challenging field of chiropractic sciences required me to focus very hard on my studies.  After completing a Bachelor’s of Science, with a double major in Biochemistry and Biology with honors, I applied to Northwestern Health Sciences University in Minneapolis, USA.  From start to finish, it took 8 years of study to be a chiropractor, which most people are surprised to hear!  My studies focused on anatomy, physiology, pathology, biochemistry, radiology, and diagnosis, and never ceased to challenge me.

Chiropractic appeals to me on so many levels.  It’s natural, logical, simple, life-giving, and empowering.  In simple terms, it allows one’s body to express its unique potential, so your body can be the best it can, with what it has to work with.  The most satisfying aspect of my career is helping others enrich their lives on their path to wellness.

On a recent humanitarian trip to Costa Rica I was fortunate enough to share the joy of chiropractic care with the local people, many of whom had never heard of chiropractic before.  The amazing improvements I saw in their health and lives was one of the most moving experiences of my life.

My favorite place is being on an airplane with a good book, awaiting my arrival in another part of the world. I am originally from Canada, and have called many parts of the world home. I love Perth for it's fantastic weather and lifestyle, and have enjoyed living here the last 4 years.

Health and fitness is a fundamental part of my life.  I love playing sport, ranging from from full contact rugby union, to basketball and athletics.  Eventually I had to choose between a healthy spine and playing rugby, so I hung my cleats up in retirement.  However, I haven't lost my passion for the game, and always cheer loudly for the Wallabies.  In my spare time, I love to unwind in the kitchen, cooking up creations for friends and spending quality time with pug dog Woody and Mouse the cat.

Dr. Janice Chan (Chiropractor)

Dr_Janice_Chan.jpgMy chiropractic story began when I was 14 years old. My mother, who was a sufferer of chronic back pain and had experienced great results after only a few weeks of chiropractic care, introduced me.

At the time, I was very active in the school athletics team, but had developed severe hip pain that was beginning to affect my performance on the track. After struggling for several months, my mother brought me to the chiropractor, who did a thorough examination and took x-rays to examine my pelvis and spine. From his examination, he found that I had a large leg length inequality stemming from a pelvic imbalance, which was ultimately causing me to walk and run differently, leading to my hip pain.

After undergoing treatment, my hip pain improved dramatically to the point I could begin to train fully and compete again pain-free. Under care, I also noticed that other symptoms, which I had not sought treatment for, were also beginning to improve. My headaches, which I used to get daily and pop 2 painkillers for, had decreased in frequency and intensity; I was sleeping better so I was not drowsy during the day and could concentrate better at school; my stomach was not as unsettled as it used to be and I no longer suffered from bouts of nausea.

After experiencing for myself firsthand how chiropractic could help the body to heal itself by removing nerve interference in my spine - I knew this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, helping others reach their true potential in health and in life.  Inspired and encouraged by my chiropractor, I finished school and undertook a 5-year, double degree in Chiropractic at Murdoch University.

Over the past few years I have had several fantastic clinical experiences working at several sporting events and volunteering in WA’s North-West Indigenous communities, to name a few.  My recent trip to India with a group of chiropractors and chiropractic students and the amazing health improvements we were able to achieve with the local people, re-affirmed what could be achieved with basic chiropractic care and compassion. It was truly the most memorable and rewarding experience of my life.

Now working with the very chiropractor that inspired me to become one myself, I am happy and excited to help people achieve their goals in life and health. (Top)

I remember when I was about 16 going to my GP for cardiac stress testing. I had previously experienced heart irregularities and further tests confirmed Tachycardia. I was told if my symptoms continued I would be placed on preventative medication for the rest of my life! No Thanks!!! Even at 16 I knew this wasn’t for me.

A few years passed, I completed my Commerce degree then began my time with Ansett as a flight attendant. I was posted to Melbourne and that’s when a chance meeting changed my life forever. I met Craig Foote as a 5th year Chiropractic student. He introduced me to the idea of Chiropractic and suggested I should get adjusted as a way to manage my heart condition. I found relief from my symptoms almost immediately and was so pleased to know I could manage my condition without medication.

I continued with my Chiropractic care, Craig graduated, moved to Perth to work as an associate and we married in 2000. We purchased our practice following the birth of our first child and I have never looked back. I believed in Chiropractic so much that I decided to work alongside Craig as a Chiropractic Assistant. This role has since evolved to practice manager, financial controller and HR manager!!

We now have 3 beautiful, healthy children who have all been adjusted since birth (and inutero!) and they’ve always had Chiropractic care as part of their lives. If they are ever unwell, they ask to be adjusted as kids seem to have this innate knowledge of what’s good for them. I am so grateful that our kids have been exposed to this from such an early age. I just know that Chiropractic care gives them every opportunity for the best, most healthy start to their lives. Not only that, I have been able to share this gift of knowledge with my extended family and friends and I know that they are now living their optimal lives too. And no, I never went on that preventative medication and my heart continues to healthy & happy!!   (Top)DSC_0721.jpg

From my early teens I always caught every cold and flu, I suffered a very long time, being sick all the time became normality for me until I started working for Nervana Chiropractic in 2007, I never knew that chiropractic could help improve my immune system, I wish I knew this earlier so I wouldn’t have suffered for so long. I also started noticing other changes like sleeping better and feeling like I had more energy throughout the day.

Since working for Nervana Chiropractic I have lived in New Zealand and Brisbane where I kept up with my chiropractic care, also working as a chiropractic assistant and returning back to the Nervana family in 2011. Having your body working its best has made a huge change to my lifestyle and both my husband and I enjoy the great results of chiropractic care every day.

Andrew Smith

My name is Andrew Smith and I joined the Nervana Yokine team in January 2012.

As a child I battled with respiratory issues for MANY years; asthma, chronic chest infections, even emergency hospital visits that saw me hooked up to oxygen for days on end, with a constant stream of chemicals just to keep my airways open, just to help me breathe.

I first saw a chiropractor at a young age after my mother brought me in to get checked. And after a course of care getting adjusted by the chiropractor, the unimaginable happened: my lungs started working again, working as they always should have. My airways opened up, my breathing improved and my life changed for the better.

This inspired me to make chiropractic part of my life, getting adjusted regularly to keep my nervous system working and my body functioning at an optimum level. After high school I began studying chiropractic, and am currently a 4th year chiropractic student at Murdoch University.

I am passionate about communicating the message of chiropractic, and what it means for health to the general public, especially to parents to get their kids checked. I have an interest in paediatrics, and loves seeing many families and young children coming into the practice at Yokine.

Chiropractic for me is a whole way of life; living a healthy, chemical free, expressing 100% of life’s potential through chiropractic. (Top)

Bec Pithersbecpithers.jpg

I first discovered Chiropractic Care when I was 5 months pregnant with my son Ari. I’d read that it helped babies with colic and could also help with reduction in labour time and even with the pain. Once I was under Chiropractic care, I realised it also helped with many other ailments. My old neck injury which I’d accepted as something I had to put up with has pretty much disappeared along with my chronic headaches and general aches and pains. I used to pop pills at the slightest tingle in my head, cough or cold.

The birth of Ari was an amazing day for me, as for every new mum. But for someone who went from wanting a caesarean to having a planned natural water birth at home, it felt extra special. Through chiro I learnt that my body and my mind is a force to be reckoned with.
My previous working life was as a busy coffee chain franchisee. I’ve also dabbled in theatre and commercial TV work since childhood and still get a kick out of live theatre shows, especially comedy. I have lived in London and Melbourne and plan on doing more traveling in the future with my partner of 10 years Dion and our son.

Growing up with a Naturopath for a mum and a Chiropractor for an aunt, health and wellbeing have always been a high priority in my daily life. demi.jpg

My first memorable experience with chiropractic was when I decided to go and spend a week at the Palmyra clinic with my aunt, Dr Olivia Gleeson, for work experience in Year 9. During this time I was exposed to the wonderful world of chiropractic. I witnessed the incredible, positive change that chiropractic can have on a person’s life. The concept of natural treatment without the use of drugs resonated strongly with me and inspired me to become a chiropractor myself. I continued to get adjusted regularly throughout my high school years as I was playing a wide variety of sport and going to a chiropractor not only helped my body to recover but also kept me working at an optimal level both physically and mentally.

In 2008, I was fortunate enough to be awarded the Murdoch University Dean’s Scholarship in Chiropractic and commenced my chiropractic degree in 2009. I am currently in my 3rd year and in that time have worked for various chiropractic clinics, I have the MC at the Dynamic Growth Experience Perth in 2011 and have also had the opportunity to represent Murdoch University at the annual World Congress of Chiropractic Students in 2010 and 2011. All of my experiences over the last 6 years have and still continue to fuel my love for Chiropractic and appreciation for what chiropractic can do.

I remember going along to the chiro with my mum, she would be bent over in pain and when we'd leave she'd be walking upright and smiling. It was amazing to me how something so 'simple' as the adjustment could be so powerful. Tim the chiro was so energetic and happy- he obviously loved his job. I went along and did work experience to learn more. The more I observed, the more I loved it, babies with colic, women with fertility problems, sports people, elderly. The natural approach really made sense to me. When I started getting adjusted the improvements in my health blew me away. At 14 I had glandular fever and after that I was pretty much always sick, I had recurrent throat infections and tonsilitis and as soon as I was under stress or tired I'd crumble. An examination found I had nerve interference at the top of my neck that was stopping my immune system working properly. Once I started getting adjusted my throat infections stopped and I had energy I could hardly believe and I hadn't even realised I was lacking energy before. In the 10 years I've been working in Perth I haven't had a sick day!

I graduated from RMIT University in Melbourne in 1998. It was a tough 5 years of study but the practical hands on classes kept me motivated. When I graduated I moved to Perth and worked as an associate in Riverton for 4 years before starting my own business. I have completed further professional and personal development studies and have a keen interest in womens's health, babies, kids and family health. I am certified in Websters breech technique. I have presented at conferences around Australia and spoken to many maternity hospitals, playgroups, schools and nursing mothers association.

I grew up in Yarrawonga in country Victoria, I have seven sisters and a brother and a large extended family. When I finished university I moved to Perth and I have three of my sisters and their families here.babes.jpg

My husband Mick and I are the proud parents of Clancy, Will and Tom. Yes we have triplets and yes I had a vaginal birth of all three. I am extremely proud of myself: that I continued to question and reject the premise that my so called “high risk” pregnancy had to end in a caesarean delivery and grateful that we got the birth outcome I wanted for babies and myself.

At 19 weeks we had our first ultrasound as we thought there was the chance of twins due to my rapid growth. The sonographer immediately pointed out two heads- “did you know you were having twins? There’s one head, there’s two. Hang on, count with me- there’s one baby, there’s two babies, there’s three babies….. YOU’RE HAVING THREE BABIES!”

“OH MY GOD” was about all I could say between bouts of laughter, Mick looked a bit pale and we were definitely shocked to say the least.

I was (and am) healthy and fit and I reflected on this after I had started worrying about all the what if's of a multiple pregnancy. Up until then I was working full time; running my business, keeping up my regular exercise regime (at a slightly lower intensity than pre pregnancy) and social life. So I had a few stern words with myself, as I knew I had to be aware of the possible risks but that I was not in the “average” category and my journey would likely be different than what I was reading and being told. I chose to believe and trust in the innate health of my body. I continued to get adjusted regularly (of course): to ensure my nervous system was communicating with and co-ordinating the function of my body and that of my unborn children at their highest level. I was determined to have a healthy pregnancy, natural birth and healthy babies and thankfully I did.

the_boys.jpgIt has been a very busy first year with the boys and I love spending time with them and seeing them interact and play together.

I get adjusted at least once a fortnight. Many people wonder why people get adjusted regularly but after receiving chiropractic care regularly I know what "great" feels like and I don’t accept anything less.
Enough about me! I look forward to meeting you in person and learning how we can help you with today's safe, and natural chiropractic care. Give us a call at Nervana Chiropractic in Palmyra so we can help you take your first step towards better health.    (Top)

Dr. Alison Scott (Chiropractor)

I was 15, with ongoing foot pain that was interrupting my ability to play sport. I lived in a small country town, the GP was unable to provide any explanation, and so my Dad took me along to the Chiropractor. Immediately he diagnosed me with a scoliosis in my spine, referred me for x-rays, and within 3 visits of starting care my foot pain had gone away. Immediately I determined that I wanted to be a chiropractor.

I was one of the lucky few high school leavers to be accepted into the 5-year degree course, and graduated from RMIT University in 2002. IIMG_0126.jpg moved to Western Australia, taking over as an Associate. It was in this position that I gained my love of working with Children. I was able to help children with Cerebral Palsy learn to walk easier, and be able to look after themselves, and not be restricted to aide for the rest of their life. I saw families all blossom as they’re health improved markedly, and just seem to get along better.

It was at this practice that I chose to study my Masters in Paediatric Chiropractic. This has allowed me to gain further information and training to completely tailor chiropractic care to the paediatric population. I am currently completing research in this topic, which focuses on neurodevelopment delay in children. This encompasses, speech and learning difficulties, slow motor development, aspects of autism, and ADD/ADHD.

I studied at RMIT University in Melbourne. We had many great lecturers, but it was studying with other motivated students that really got me through. The classes that were most interesting to me were Neurology and Clinical Physiology. These were challenging, yet you could immediately see how they would be applicable in practice. My Real turnaround occurred when I had a chiropractor present on vitality and wellness whilst I was in fourth year, and this really brought home to me the true essence of what chiropractic is about, helping people achieve their wildest dreams through optimal function.

I grew up in Central Victoria, and that is where the large part of my family still resides. As a family, we grew up in a wine growing region, and my Dad now does wine tours in the Bendigo area. It is this love of good food and wine that I enjoy still. I love to travel, spending time exploring different cultures every year is one of my goals. We are off to Iceland, Spain and Scotland this year, and I will be heading back to India next year. Spending time with my partner, my friends and when I can my family. I also enjoy playing Touch Footy, cycling, and keeping fit and healthy in my spare time.

I receive a Chiropractic adjustment at least once per week to keep my spine in fantastic shape. I go to the gym 3-4 times per week, doing weights and cardio. I like to go to dance classes once per week. But my big sporting choice I enjoy the most is Touch Footy, and hopefully will be heading to State Titles again this year. I eat all my food gluten free as well, to keep me in perfect health. (Top)

My first experience with Chiropractic was when I was 17. I had dislocated my knee six months earlier which had changed the way I ran and played sport, and was also experiencing recurrent tonsillitis and chest infections. My cousin suggested I go and see a chiropractor. I discovered that far from merely treating back pain, Chiropractic focuses on the entire spine and the function of the nervous system. After a course of adjustments I felt I was able to run more normally again, was no longer constantly developing tonsillitis, and more importantly I felt a whole lot healthier.

Inspired by my chiropractor, I enrolled in the five year degree at Murdoch University. During my time there I also became involved with the Sports Chiropractic Association of WA and was fortunate enough to work with a number of sports teams including the WA Indoor Hockey teams, Coastal Titans Football Club and WA Touch Rugby to name a few.

Upon graduating I travelled to the UK and worked in London. It was fantastic experience as I was exposed to a wide variety of practice styles and techniques. It didn’t take long for me to start missing the sunshine and healthy lifestyle of Australia however, and I made the decision to return home and join the team at Nervana.
Sport and exercise are a huge part of my life and I play touch rugby and gaelic football throughout the year, on top of running Jacobs Ladder every week. It can get pretty exhausting, and getting adjusted at least one per week keeps my spine in great shape and dramatically helps my recovery.
I look forward to meeting you in person and am excited to be in a position to help you achieve optimal health.

When I met my friend Rachel (a chiropractor), I knew nothing about Chiropractic. I believed it was just for bad backs so when Rachel explained it could help with so many more health issues, I became rather intrigued! Since I was moving to Perth, she gave me the contact details for the girls at Nervana.

Since I have been seeing Olivia, Ali and Ellie I have found many of my health issues are getting so much better. I am sleeping at night and have more energy than I thought I could ever have!

When the girls offered me a Chiropractic Assistant’s position, I jumped at the chance to work in such an amazing, positive environment! It is everything I could have wished for and more!

I was only a toddler when I began my Chiropractic journey. My family was desperately searching for treatment options for severe scoliosis and after meeting Dr Alison Scott, we were blown away by the effects of Chiropractic. Soon enough, my entire family was under Chiropractic care and we never looked back. After continuing care through high school and being continuously amazed by the effects of treatment, I decided that I too wanted to become a chiropractor. In 2008, I received the Murdoch University Dean’s Scholarship in Chiropractic and began the five-year Chiropractic course at Murdoch University.

I have been part of the incredible Nervana Chiropractic team since 2008, and over the years I have met some extraordinary patients and witnessed some awesome Chiropractic miracle stories. As the final months of my studies draw nearer, I can say that I am so grateful to be part of such an incredible team of dedicated chiropractors and CA’s, passionate about helping people reach the unimaginable and inspiring people to live blissfully and healthily.
