Kids and chiropractic... here's some research
Fri, 9 Dec 2011Children and babies
Chiropractic has again been under the spotlight with the head of the AMA and 34 other medical professionals calling for the Central Queensland University to pull the plug on the latest chiropractic course to be based out of Mackay. Steve Hambleton (President of the AMA) called chiropractic a pseudo-science and the theory of subluxation was biologically impossible. Stories on today tonight, the project, ABC national and the Australian as well as other main newspapers have been covering the story. Each with their particular bias.
In "The Project" Dr Andrew Rochford who is a medical doctor repeatedly asked Dr. Angus Pyke (Chiropractor) where is the research that suggests that Chiropractic can help colic or reflux in babies? What was not aired was the fact that Dr. Pyke had in fact supplied relevant research to channel ten however that was not mentioned at all.
In regard to the university opening in QLD, the head of that course Professor Phillip Ebrall recently presented to the board members of Spinal Research. Dr Craig Foote a governor of Spinal Research and a director of Nervana was in attendance.
"Professor Ebrall was head of my school when I was a student (RMIT) and from my experience you can be rest assured that this program will be of the highest quality. As more and more people become aware of the importance of a functioning spine and nervous system with a balanced lifestyle the demand for chiropractors and their expertise in wellness continues to grow. Each week across the nation 250000 people get adjusted and this is growing rapidly. This course is needed to allow for this growth."
